Decatur was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in 2A Region 4. The Bulldogs vanquished Union Christian Academy 46-14 earlier in the week.
Mountainburg's dynamic duo of Nathan Jones and Frank James proved tough for Leftwich to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jones threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns and James had 99 yards receiving. Laramie Marion helped Mountainburg's passing attack out by catching three balls for 52 yards.
Victor Urquidi was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 221 yards on 19 carries as Decatur bested the Rattlers. Allen Castaneda also contributed to the rushing game with 92 yards on the ground.
Tynr Johnson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mountainburg beat Leftwich. The 6-foot-3 senior forced one fumble.
6-foot-2 quarterback Jones of Tom Harrell's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1853. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, Shane Holland's team's Urquidi has rushed for 1030 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Joel Murdock. The Union Christian Academy star has 57 catches for 535 yards.
Hector's Gus Nichols is a mere 12 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 103 carries Nichols has accumulated 988 yard this year.
Entering into this week's contest against Pocola, Jones is short just 147 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in 2A Region 4 this week will be when the Bulldogs take on Josh Jones' team. Decatur is in third place, while the Rattlers are in sixth place.
Western Yell County led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Hartford.
