The North Posey Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Heritage Hills Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in North Posey's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
North Posey fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Evansville North on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 11-10.
Ethan Mansfield was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Jed Galvin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Heritage Hills put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Northeast Dubois with a sharp 15-2 win. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Jeeps on their field since March 29, 2019.
Bronson Pund spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.
On the hitting side, Heritage Hills got a massive performance out of Peyton Gray, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Gray a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Toler, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4.
Heritage Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Dubois only posted an OBP of .217.
Heritage Hills' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for North Posey, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North Posey has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Heritage Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North Posey beat Heritage Hills 4-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
