The Alcovy Tigers were the 16-12 winner over the Jonesboro Cardinals when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Alcovy fell just short of Jonesboro by a score of 28-26. Alcovy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jonesboro got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamon Jones out in front who threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Mccoy, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Alcovy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Jonesboro, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alcovy will take on Rockdale County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockdale County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Jonesboro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lovejoy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Lovejoy is ranked 174th, while Jonesboro is ranked 171st).
