The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings managed to keep up with the Sioux County Warriors until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Guernsey-Sunrise ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-30 walloping at the hands of Sioux County. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Guernsey-Sunrise came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 58th in Wyoming, while Sioux County is ranked 265th in Nebraska).
Sioux County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shane Gluth, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Cy Hughson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Guernsey-Sunrise has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Sioux County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-15 record this season.
Guernsey-Sunrise didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-44 loss vs. Banner County on the 9th. Sioux County will be playing in front of their home fans against Hyannis on Friday. Hyannis will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Sioux County surely won't give up without a fight.
