Madelyn Althage looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Grace Diez was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Paulina Ros was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Marathon posted their closest win since April 29, 2024 on Thursday. They skirted past Miami Country Day 5-3.
Miami Country Day's batters probably weren't too happy with Madelyn Thornton, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up 11 walks).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Shynell McGuire, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Elena Eubank, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Marathon's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marathon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
