Auburn is 0-10 against Tantasqua Regional since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Auburn Rockets' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Tantasqua Regional Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Auburn beat Oxford 55-44. The victory was just what Auburn needed coming off of a 63-32 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Tantasqua Regional scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Leicester with a sharp 68-44 win. Given Tantasqua Regional's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Leicester is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Auburn's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Tantasqua Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Auburn came up short against Tantasqua Regional when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 55-45. Can Auburn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
