Zereian Quarles Delivers Best Effort of Season
Pebble Hills was led to victory by Zereian Quarles, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Quarles rushed for 274 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 63 yards.
Coronado's probably not too fond of Quarles given he always seems to get the better of them. Quarles rushed for 174 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry the last time he and the Thunderbirds duked it out back in September of 2023.

Steven Galindo Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
Eastlake was led to victory by Steven Galindo, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Thursday. Galindo rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also picked up 30 receiving yards, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. Eastlake is 2-1 when Galindo posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Galindo might have his next game, a home matchup with Socorro, circled on his calendar. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Galindo saw the Bulldogs), he rushed for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also picked up 53 receiving yards.

Damian Briano Turns in Season-Best Effort
Damian Briano produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Montwood to the win on Friday. Briano threw for 345 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
The win snapped Montwood's winning streak at six games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record. Briano and Montwood will square off against Pebble Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Powers Came Up Big in Franklin's 46-42 Defeat
Ernie Powers's rushing tear continued on Friday as he dropped his third-straight game with 138+ rushing yards dating back to last season. He rushed for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 64 yards.
On the year, Powers has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 160.7 rushing yards per game.

Dorian Jaramillo Dazzles in Pebble Hills Victory
The second Pebble Hills player making an appearance here is Dorian Jaramillo, and for good reason. He forced a fumble and made 14 total tackles.
If the past is any indication, Jaramillo could be in store for another big game when he takes on Montwood on Friday. When Jaramillo last faced the Rams back in October of 2023, he made 17 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
