On Thursday, the Dunbar Crimson Tide faced the Gonzaga Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dunbar was outmatched by Gonzaga on the road and fell 87-45. Dunbar was down 64-35 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Dunbar still got an impressive performance from Isrial Braxton, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gregory Lomax, who scored nine points.
Dunbar's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Gonzaga, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
Dunbar will head out on the road to square off against Banneker at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked 15th, while Dunbar is ranked tenth). As for Gonzaga, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against The Heights at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. The Heights is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
