Basketball Game Preview: Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans vs. Rocky Mount Academy Eagles

Kerr-Vance Academy hasn't had much luck against Rocky Mount Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans are taking a road trip to face off against the Rocky Mount Academy Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Kerr-Vance Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Kerr-Vance Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Bradford Academy 69-38. The victory was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Rakia Terry had an outrageously good game as he went 8 of 15 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. M.J. Wright was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Kerr-Vance Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Rocky Mount Academy played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 72-52 to Harrells Christian Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost seven in a row.

Kerr-Vance Academy's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-19. As for Rocky Mount Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Kerr-Vance Academy took a serious blow against Rocky Mount Academy when the teams last played back in January, falling 68-33. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Kerr-Vance Academy was down 37-13.
