This season hasn't been kind to the Flomaton Hurricanes, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 65-53 loss to Escambia County. While losing is never fun, Flomaton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while Escambia County is ranked 183rd).
Escambia County was led to victory by Cleo Bolar jr. and Stephen Williams. Bolar jr. scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Williams dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bolar jr. has scored at least 25% of Escambia County's points. Jovaughnta Henderson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Flomaton bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Escambia County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-5.
Flomaton will take on Mobile Christian at 9:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Escambia County, they will head out on the road to face off against Satsuma at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Satsuma comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
