Westwood is 0-9 against Lugoff-Elgin since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Redhawks will challenge the Demons at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Westwood put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Spring Valley as they made off with a 16-6 victory.
Annarea Wilson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last nine games.

In other batting news, Westwood let Azaria Belton and Nayanna Shannon run wild. Belton scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Shannon scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Shannon a new career-high. Izzy Ridgeway was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Westwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lugoff-Elgin had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Blazers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win.
Haleigh Miranda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Miranda was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Kayley Lynch was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carley Bell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Lugoff-Elgin's record is now 6-11. As for Westwood, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
