Softball Recap: Wellston Has No Trouble Against Oak Hill

Wellston got themselves on the board against Oak Hill on Thursday, but Oak Hill never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Oaks with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Golden Rockets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Wellston let Maddie Childers and Kennedi Stevens run wild. Childers went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Stevens got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Stevens has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Potts, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Wellston's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Oak Hill, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Wellston will face off against Northwestern at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oak Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Webster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jeeps have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.08 runs per game on average), something the Oaks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
