On Friday, Williamsville beat Meridian 59-50. With that victory, Williamsville brought their scoring average up to 53.5 points per game.
Williamsville can attribute much of their success to Blake Shoufler, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 4 assists. That makes it two consecutive games in which Shoufler has scored at least 25% of Williamsville's points. Another player making a difference was Brecken Thomas, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meridian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Brown, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. Sebastian Hill was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Williamsville and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williamsville will challenge Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monticello will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 341st, while Williamsville is ranked 59th). Meridian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Vandalia at 7:30 p.m. on December 2nd. Vandalia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 177 points over their last three contests.
