The Lake Buena Vista Vipers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 65-54 victory over Lake Region on Monday. The victory was just what Lake Buena Vista needed coming off of a 62-19 loss in their prior matchup.
Lake Buena Vista was led to victory by Bryan Mwangovya and Travis Ligene. Mwangovya scored 15 points along with two steals, while Ligene scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Nash Barfield was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Devan Booker and Dwayne Lattimore certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Booker scored 15 points, while Lattimore almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Lattimore hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Malachi Scott, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Region were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Buena Vista only posted seven assists.
Lake Buena Vista's victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Lake Region, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Buena Vista will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Tohopekaliga's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Lake Region, they will be playing at home against the Hawks at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Santa Fe Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
