Baseball Recap: Elmwood Wins Going Away Against Riverdale

Elmwood was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Riverdale on Friday. The Royals were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Falcons. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Zackery Gross made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Gross was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Nico Allen was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Cadyn Stewart was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Elmwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Elmwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Riverdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Elmwood nor Riverdale have any future games scheduled.
