OCEANSIDE, Calif. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
El Camino (Oceanside, Calif.) held on for a 15-12 victory over
Mira Mesa (San Diego, Calif.) on Saturday. The difference for the Wildcats was that
David Rodriguez kicked a field goal.
The Wildcats led 12-6 at halftime, but the Marauders regained the lead on a field goal by Rodriguez with less than a minute remaining in the fourth.
Mira Mesa's lone touchdown came on a 19-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The defeat comes as a step back for Mira Mesa, which notched a 17-13 victory over Valhalla in its previous outing.
In a non-conference game next week El Camino (2-0) takes on Olympian, and Mira Mesa (1-1) will go up against San Diego also in a non-conference game.
