Westside is 7-1 against West Laurens since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Westside Seminoles will head out on the road to face off against the West Laurens Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Westside beat Perry 65-56. Given Westside's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Perry is ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Christian Little, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and Chauncey Williams, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Rembert, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, West Laurens' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 76-59 bruising from Dodge County.
Westside is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for West Laurens, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-15.
Westside was able to grind out a solid win over West Laurens when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 71-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
