The Lincoln Fighting Zebras's game last Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took down Woodland Christian 70-52. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Lincoln did.
Lincoln got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Butler out in front who scored 13 points along with five blocks and three steals. Butler is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Michael Neely was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Woodland Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tanner Thomas, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Romello Bruhn, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Woodland Christian, their loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4.
Lincoln will take on Oakmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakmont is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Woodland Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Forest Lake Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Forest Lake Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1352nd, while Woodland Christian is ranked 513th).
