Baseball Recap: Hooker Has No Trouble Against Erick

While Hooker put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Erick. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Bearcats with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Tatum Trimble made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Trimble was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Cale Metcalf was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Gunnar Martens was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Hooker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hooker is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Erick, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hooker will welcome Forgan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Forgan has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something Hooker will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Erick, they will square off against Cordell at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
