It was a good run, but The Amite Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to Sterlington 24-18. Amite was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sterlington apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Sterlington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gaven Evans, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Trammell Colvin, who rushed for 113 yards on only 14 carries.
Amite's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Sterlington, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1.
Amite will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sumner. As for Sterlington, they will head out on the road to face off against Wossman at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Wossman is ranked 40th, while Sterlington is ranked 30th).
