The Steel Valley Ironmen will venture away from home to  square off against Sewickley Academy  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Given that  the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this  game.
On Tuesday, Steel Valley came up short against South Park  and fell  8-4. The Ironmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

  Daevon Gaynor put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Gaynor was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  double. Steel Valley is 2-1 when  Gaynor posts two or  more  runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Sewickley Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They lost  14-4 to Eden Christian Academy.
  Nolan Donnelly was cooking despite his team's loss,   scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
 Sewickley Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Steel Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
 Steel Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Sewickley Academy in their previous matchup  back in March of 2022, sneaking past  8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ironmen since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
