The Southwest Wildcats lost against the Winston Red Birds back in December of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Southwest was dealt a 61-34 defeat at the hands of the Red Birds. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Southwest in their matchups with the Red Birds: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Southwest still got an impressive performance from Will Hughes, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Larson, who scored four points along with two blocks.
Southwest dropped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Winston, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest will take on the Bobcats at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Winston, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
