The Taylorsville Tartars entered their tilt with the Leake County Gators with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Taylorsville blew past Leake County 63-8 at home. The result was nothing new for Taylorsville, who have now won three contests by 35 points or more so far this season.
Cobey Craft was on fire: he rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Laza Beavers was another key contributor, throwing for 140 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes.
Despite the loss, Leake County still got an impressive performance from Carnez Thomas, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 62 yards.
Taylorsville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Leake County, their loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-8.
Taylorsville will be playing at home against West Bolivar at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. West Bolivar will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Taylorsville is ranked 104th). As for Leake County, they will head out on the road to face off against West Tallahatchie at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
