On Saturday, the Cape Henlopen Vikings faced the Appoquinimink Jaguars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cape Henlopen snuck past Appoquinimink with a 49-43 victory. The win was familiar territory for Cape Henlopen who now have five in a row.
Cape Henlopen found their leader in underclassman Amalia Fruchtman, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Fruchtman has scored at least a third of Cape Henlopen's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Maull, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Cape Henlopen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Appoquinimink, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8.
Cape Henlopen will head out on the road to face off against Sussex Tech at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Delaware (Cape Henlopen is ranked 13th, while Sussex Tech is ranked 28th). As for Appoquinimink, they will be playing at home against Delcastle Technical at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
