4A KingCo - Crown recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A KingCo - Crown this week, Skyline beat Garfield 41-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Spartans.
Skyline took down the Bulldogs 41-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kilton Anderson threw for 133 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 52 yards in the win.
Jacob Ta'ase threw for 283 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 19-41 with 2 interceptions.
Conner Baumann was a beast in the backfield as Newport defeated Ballard.
Max Marshall was the best wideout in the league this week as the Beavers fell to the Knights. Marshall tallied 4 receptions for 86 yards. John DeGarmo helped Ballard's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 52 yards.
Ballard's Ta'ase and Siddique Newkirk have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Ta'ase has thrown for 866 yards this season, while Newkirk has 12 catches for 228 yards. Newport's Baumann leads the league in rushing yards with 716.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Joey Thomas' team's Newkirk goes up against Mat Taylor's team's Cole Blackburn.
Next week's game between the Beavers and the Spartans will feature a good passing match up as Ta'ase will test his arm against Blackburn's defensive ability.
One of 4A KingCo - Crown's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Ballard and Skyline face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mike Miller's team takes on Roosevelt. The Knights are in second place, while the Roughriders are in third place.
