The Basha Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Dobson at home and fell 78-36. While losing is never fun, Basha can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Dobson is ranked 22nd).
Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Beckler, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Rose Bosch, who scored nine points.
Dobson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marley Perez, who scored 11 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perez has scored all season. Malia Moreno was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two blocks.
Basha dropped their record down to 10-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Dobson, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-7.
Basha does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dobson, they will head out on the road to take on Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ahdiayh Chee and Amya Bekele.
