If The Ranburne Bulldogs were feeling good off their 64-39 takedown of the Central of Coosa County Cougars last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ranburne was beaten by Randolph County 49-21 on Friday. Ranburne was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Randolph County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Ranburne lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaide Garrett. Despite the final result, he rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Garrett was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 61 yards.
Randolph County found their leader in underclassman Maurice Winston, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Austin Terrell, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
Ranburne's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 4-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Randolph County, Thorsby, and Comer. As for Randolph County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Ranburne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Randolph County will be playing in front of their home fans against W.S. Neal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
