2A Central Carolina recap Oct. 16, 2012
Salisbury extended the longest winning streak in 2A Central Carolina this week by beating Lexington, 37-25. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Hornets.
Thomasville moved up to 174 from 224 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of defeating West Davidson 35-5.
West Davidson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan Heitman has thrown for 275 yards and one touchdown this season, while Zach Queen has 15 catches for 282 yards. Kyle Smith leads the league in rushing with 930 yards.
The Dragons' Smith is a mere 70 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in 2A Central Carolina this week will be when Salisbury takes on Thomasville. As it stands, Joe Pinyan's team is in first, while Allen Brown's team is in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when West Davidson and the Golden Eagles face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Dale Barnes' team comes in having scored 150 this season, while East Davidson has scored 120. The Dragons scored 5 points last week as they lost to the Bulldogs.
Central Davidson led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Bryan Lingerfelt's team.
