The Lejeune Devil Pups fell victim to the Northside - Pinetown Panthers''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 55-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lejeune in their matchups with Northside - Pinetown: they've now lost four in a row.
Jamie Corprew continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northside - Pinetown, rushing for 194 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Corprew is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last five games he's played. Sincere Columbus also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Lejeune's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 North Duplin and 7-2 Lakewood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.6% over those games). As for Northside - Pinetown, the win was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Lejeune will be playing at home against East Carteret at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Northside - Pinetown, they will head out on the road to face off against Pamlico County at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
