The Cherokee Braves can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They claimed a resounding 68-30 victory over Nantahala on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-19.
Elijah Lineberry was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points. Another player making a difference was Traelin Carey, who scored 11 points.
Nantahala's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacen Carver, who scored two points along with six rebounds, and Cole McCoy who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Cherokee's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Nantahala, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Cherokee on the road again on Wednesday and play against Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Highlands has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4. As for Nantahala, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Swain County at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. One thing working in Swain County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
