Muleshoe and Friona are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Mules are taking a road trip to square off against the Chieftains at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Muleshoe and 13 for Friona.
Idalou hit Muleshoe with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mules fell 12-9 to the Wildcats.

Ram Regalado and Riley Railsback stepped up to the plate in a big way. Regalado went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Railsback went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Railsback has become a key player for Muleshoe: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nehemiah Sanchez, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Friona also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Slaton by a score of 22-18.
Jameson Daniels and Aaron Rosales did some serious damage despite the final result: Daniels went 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Rosales got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Aiden Tafoya, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI.
Friona's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Muleshoe, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Muleshoe has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Friona struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Muleshoe beat Friona 8-5 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mules since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
