Solon strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top against the Benton Bobcats by a score of 28-21. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while the Bobcats are ranked 69th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Solon's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Benton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Solon and Benton will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans will square off against rival Fairfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Benton is set to challenge their familiar foe Charles City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
