The Hollins Royals suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Countryside by a score of 59-57. Hollins has struggled against Countryside recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Hollins' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Lemons, who scored 17 points. Lemons is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Malachi Miller was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Countryside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Halloran led the charge by scoring 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Halloran has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Perlin, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Hollins has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Countryside, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Hollins will be playing at home against Osceola at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Countryside, they will head out on the road to take on Lakewood at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
