The Isabella Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Keith Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Isabella had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Woodland 55-14 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-0.
Elijah Kendrick was his usual excellent self, throwing for 168 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 passes, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Kendrick was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards. Dre'von Lee also helped out with an impressive 81 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Keith made sure to put some points up on the board against Hatch on Friday. Keith breezed by Hatch on the road to the tune of 34-6. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Keith had established a 22 point advantage.
Their wins bumped Isabella to 7-2 and Keith to 6-3.
Everything came up roses for Isabella against Keith when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 55-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Isabella since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
