If the Chiefland Indians were feeling good off their 54-13 takedown of the Riverside Christian Wranglers last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chiefland took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie County. Chiefland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dixie County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Chiefland lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brianna Bell, who scored eight points along with five steals. Bell is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Riley Davies, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakayla Henderson, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Henderson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidyn Brown, who scored 14 points.
Chiefland has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Dixie County, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiefland and North Marion will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Marion comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Dixie County, they will head out on the road to square off against Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lafayette focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
