The Ashley Screaming Eagle will face off against the Wake County HomeSchool Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Ashley got the win against Swansboro by a conclusive 10-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Screaming Eagle.
Will Hartzell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jackson Lee looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Quinn Bentley, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Potter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Ashley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swansboro only posted a batting average of .136.
Meanwhile, Wake County HomeSchool posted their closest victory since April 15, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past South Johnston 3-1.
Wake County HomeSchool also got a great performance from Eli Dadisman as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Avery Martin was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Gabriel Ferrell was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Wake County HomeSchool now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ashley, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
