The Discovery Canyon Thunder's's five-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They came out on top against Harrison by a score of 37-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Discovery Canyon also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Leading Discovery Canyon to victory were Meghan Storch and Kaela Rowe. Storch scored ten points along with three steals, while Rowe scored four points along with 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Rowe pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nadia Turnipseed , who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyleen Brown, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds.
Harrison struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Discovery Canyon's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6. As for Harrison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will face off against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Coronado is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Harrison will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
