The Canton Golden Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Franklin Academy Huskies at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Canton posted their biggest victory yet this season back in December of 2023. They were the clear victor by a 61-36 margin over Gouverneur. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Gouverneur is ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Franklin Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 74-20 win over Salmon River. Franklin Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Garrett Osborn was his usual excellent self, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradley Poupore, who scored four points along with six steals and five assists.
Canton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. As for Franklin Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.
Canton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Franklin Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-44 victory.
