The Holy Family Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Colorado Academy Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Holy Family is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
Holy Family came out on top against Peak to Peak on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Tigers walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Pumas. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.
Holy Family got a great performance from Austin Mireiter as he tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. Mireiter has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Logan Seifarth was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Nick Leopardi was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Colorado Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Denver Christian by a score of 7-2. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Jordan Reiter, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Henderson Ray, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Holy Family's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Colorado Academy, their record now sits at 17-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Holy Family has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Colorado Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
