The Provo Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Provo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Timpanogos likes a good challenge.
Provo posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mountain View 67-37 at home. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Provo had established a 24 point advantage.
Jason Carter was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. His trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Trey Johnson, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Timpanogos suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 67-41 defeat at the hands of Layton Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Timpanogos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Layton Christian Academy is ranked eighth).
Despite the loss, Timpanogos had strong showings from Steven LaPray, who scored 11 points, and Jaxen Mccuistion, who scored seven points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Livingston, who scored two points along with two steals.
Provo's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. As for Timpanogos, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Provo hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.6 points per game. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 62.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Provo beat Timpanogos 56-46 in their previous matchup on January 9th. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mccuistion, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Provo still be able to contain him? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
