If the Loveland Red Wolves were feeling good off their 77-49 takedown of the Thompson Valley Eagles last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Loveland took a 85-81 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Range. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (77), Loveland still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Loveland saw an underclassman step up: Jackson Gebhardt went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gebhardt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryder Eastin, who scored 16 points.
Even though they lost, Loveland were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Mountain Range found their leader in underclassman Preston Brunton, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds. Brunton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Helsel, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Loveland's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-7. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Mountain Range, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Loveland will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Horizon at 6:30 p.m. As for Mountain Range, they will head out on the road to challenge Monarch at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
