Baseball Recap: Edisto Has No Trouble Against Academic Magnet

Edisto came out on top against Academic Magnet on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Cougars blew past the Raptors 11-1. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Max Dempsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Edisto: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 9-11-1 otherwise. Dempsey was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Edisto got a massive performance out of Michael Myers, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Myers has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hayden Turner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Edisto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Edisto pushed their record up to 13-11-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Academic Magnet, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Edisto wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Atlantic Collegiate Academy on the 8th. As for Academic Magnet, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-4 win against Chesterfield on the 8th.
