The Mandarin Mustangs put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 60-17 win over Riverside on the road. With that win, Mandarin brought their scoring average up to 50.5 points per game.
Mandarin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nykeria Thomas, who scored 19 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Thomas has scored at least 25% of Mandarin's points. Irvieona Gantt was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Despite the loss, Riverside still got an impressive performance from Kennis Gray, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds. Gray is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Mandarin's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Riverside, they bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Mandarin will head out on the road to face off against Stanton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stanton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Mandarin is ranked 54th). As for Riverside, they will be playing at home against First Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully First Coast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 54 on Wednesday.
