Softball Recap: Hozho Academy Wins Going Away Against Lordsburg

Hozho Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lordsburg, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wolves blew past the Mavericks 11-4 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mia Baca was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Baca was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucia Edaakie, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Iris Albert was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hozho Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Lordsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hozho Academy will challenge Zuni at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lordsburg, they will face off against Duncan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
