Hanover Central is 1-7 against Andrean since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Fighting 59ers at 4:30 p.m. Hanover Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Hanover Central managed to slip by Kankakee Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Wildcats lost 9-1 to the Kougars on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Hanover Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sienna Antkiewicz, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Andrean entered their tilt with Highland on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Trojans. Considering the Fighting 59ers have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sadie Drousias made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Maddy McCoy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Hite, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Andrean's record is now 14-6. As for Hanover Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hanover Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. However, it's not like Andrean struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hanover Central came up short against Andrean in their previous meeting back in April, falling 17-14. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
