The Valley View Cougars will take on the Montrose Meteors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley View will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Lakeland came into Monday's match looking for another win against Valley View, but Layla Marino wouldn't allow it. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chiefs on Monday, sneaking past 3-2 for which the team can thank Marino, who had 24 digs, 15 kills, and ten aces. She has been hot, having posted five or more aces the last six times she's played.
Valley View wouldn't go down easily and took Lakeland into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-27, 15-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevaeh Evans, who had six digs, two aces, and one block. What's more, Evans posted three kills, the most she's had since back in September. Another player making a difference was Madison Hallock, who had 17 assists and seven digs.
They weren't the only good servers: Valley View was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Montrose unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dunmore.
While Montrose had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Valley View's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Montrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Valley View hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 9.6 blocks per game. However, it's not like Montrose struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Valley View skirted past Montrose 3-2 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Meteors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
