The Sweetwater Wildcats will head out to square off against the Greenback Cherokees at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sweetwater is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Sweetwater's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Tellico Plains.

The result came thanks to Sadie Scott's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, Greenback earned a 12-7 victory over Rockwood on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Cherokees have won by exactly five runs.
Peyton Vanskiver made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Vanskiver was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Greenback got a massive performance out of Addison Brown, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Marlee Ownsby, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Greenback always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Sweetwater pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Greenback, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sweetwater has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greenback struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sweetwater might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Greenback in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
