Melba is 2-8 against Parma since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Melba is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Melba got the win against Vision by a conclusive 20-2. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with Vision recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Andrea Pinto made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kodi Adams was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kalina DeForest was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Melba always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vision only posted an OBP of .211.
New Plymouth typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Parma proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Pilgrims.
Wesli Crockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kinlea Cole, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Britton, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Melba's record is now 5-12. As for Parma, their record now sits at 15-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Melba has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Parma struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Melba might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Parma when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
