The Windham Whippets had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.4 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They walked away with a 61-52 victory over Waterford. Given Windham's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Waterford is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aniya Jenkins continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelize Rivera, who scored nine points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Windham pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Waterford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
Windham will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lyman Memorial at 3:00 p.m. As for Waterford, they will head out on the road to take on East Haven at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
