The StoneBridge Cavaliers will be playing at home against Gateway Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. StoneBridge is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
StoneBridge's and Portsmouth Christian's game on Tuesday was close at halftime, but StoneBridge turned on the heat in the second half with 24 points. StoneBridge was the clear victor by a 45-25 margin over Portsmouth Christian. The victory was just what StoneBridge needed coming off of a 65-45 loss in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead StoneBridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex DeVane, who scored 12 points along with two blocks. Jeremy Wells was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Gateway Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-31 loss to Greenbrier Christian Academy on Tuesday. Gateway Christian has not had much luck with Greenbrier Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
StoneBridge's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Gateway Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
StoneBridge beat Gateway Christian 42-34 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will StoneBridge repeat their success, or does Gateway Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
